Suncoast Sports Fun, Inc was started in 1986. The original concept was created around teaching sports skills and gymnastics to pre-kindergarten and elementary school age boys and girls. This was achieved by offering an after school Sports Fun program in select private schools, day care centers and several school districts in West Central Florida. The popularity of this program, which focused on teaching sportsmanship, team work, physical fitness and encouraged good ‘old fashioned’ outdoor play, grew substantially because the curriculum was unique and the price was right. Having the Sports Fun program at a school became a marketing tool for school owners and directors especially with the ongoing concern for children’s health and fitness and the increasing number of our youth facing child obesity. The Sports Fun program has influenced the lives of thousands of children and continues to do so today!
Becoming a corporate event planner happened to Suncoast Sports Fun in 1989. Following a Sports Fun class, we were approached by a parent who worked in Human Resources for Baxter Healthcare Services. She asked if we could provide “some games and activities for the children at their upcoming company picnic”. Without hesitation, we welcomed the challenge and opportunity to expand our services, IF we were successful. Our first picnic, with 1,000 guests in attendance, was for Baxter Healthcare Service. We provided and organized volleyball, horse shoes, games for children, relay races, water balloon toss, tug of war and in the end we knew we had found our niche. Corporate party planning was our focus. Upon referrals and through ‘word of mouth’, our business grew. We learned the importance of repeat clients from year to year and that there was nothing we couldn’t do to fulfill the needs and requests of our customers. Whether it be a private party for twenty-five guests or a company picnic for 5,000 employees and their families, we pride ourselves in providing the very best in catered menu choices, entertainment, recreational activities, quality equipment and trained personnel. We have a reputation at stake and that is important to us.
We are a family owned and operated business with the support of an ever growing staff, reliable vendors, loyal clients and repeat customers. We are proud to claim the title as the oldest event planning company in the Tampa Bay area to specialize in company picnics.
